Welcome to Spring. In the beautiful Southern Highlands the flowers are in bloom and the temperature is perfect for training. Great timing with just 8 weeks to go until our Pearl iZUMi Bundy Run trail run and Highland Fling mountain bike race!
Here’s the latest news from Wild Horizons.
A FEW FLING THINGS
Firstly a quick thanks to those who joined us for our Bikes & Beer social ride at Manly Dam with 4 Pines Brewery. The riding was excellent, the beer equally so!
DON’T FORGET TO PERSONALISE YOUR FLING JOURNEY Just a reminder that in 2016 you can personalise your Fling jersey with your name, nickname, team name (whatever you like really as long as it fits within 25 characters) – but you need to get your order in by 30 September to be sure!
Haven’t entered yet? The Highland Fling is on Sunday 13 November – get your ticket here.
KID’S SKILLS COURSE On Saturday 12 November, we’re once again running an MTB skills course for kids between 5 – 12. Kid’s will learn safe cycling and MTB handling skills. Entry is $15. It’s always popular, so make sure you book now!
Entry fees go to support the work of Save the Children.
ROLLOFF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Also on Saturday 12 November is the annual Rolloff World Championships!
For those who haven’t participated or seen it in action, the Rolloff World Championships is the great leveller in cycling. Drop the chain, give yourself one push and you’re racing.
In the early years the RWC was held as a distance event – dominated by the heavyweights who had a weight advantage to roll furthest. In 2015 we switched to a new fastest format which will continue in 2016 – making it a race for everyone!
Make sure you plan to go for a roll before you Fling. Book your entry on the day, but find out more about this seriously fun event here.
PRE-FLING WOMEN’S RIDE – SUNDAY 16 OCTOBER
On Sunday 16 October we’re joining the Sydney City Cycles women’s ride and inviting women to join our ride leader and Wild Horizons supported rider, the lovely young local Verity Evans, to check out the trails around Wingello. For more details and to let us know you’re coming jump across to our FB page.
NOW FOR SOME PEARL IZUMI BUNDY RUN FUN…
On Saturday 8 October, Wild Horizons and Pearl iZUMI will be hosting a run the course recce for anyone wanting a sneak peek or training run on the Pearl iZUMi Bundy Run Course.
We’ll be meeting at Ye Olde Bike Shoppe at 2pm and heading off together, breaking into groups to suit different levels. For more details and to let us know you’re coming jump across to our FB page.
GET YOUR TRAIL KICKS At the run recce, the crew at Pearl iZUMi will also have some demo models of their ‘just launched’ new new trail shoes – the N2 and M2. Both the neutral and support versions combine speed and agility, with comfort and rugged toughness to tackle trail terrain. And they look awesome too!
Have you got your ticket to run the Pearl iZUMi Bundy Run on Saturday 12 November yet? Enter here.
