We’re counting down into the last couple of weeks, and as you can imagine it is all systems go, go, go in the lead up to the Highland Fling and Pearl iZUMi Bundy Run weekend on Saturday 12 – Sunday 13 November 2016.

Will you be there? We sure hope so!

Just in case you haven’t booked yet, here are some quick links to make it easy.

Book to ride the Highland Fling here.

Book to run the Pearl iZUMi Bundy Run here.

Welcome Westside Petroleum
Welcome Westside Petroleum

Firstly a warm welcome, both to town and the Wild Horizons crew, to Westside Petroleum who opened for business in Bundanoon this month.

Both a petrol station and convenience store, we know visitors will welcome the chance to get petrol in Bundy on a weekend (definitely a more welcome alternative to pedalling or running home after you’ve raced).

Westside are generously supporting both the Highland Fling and Pearl iZUMi Bundy Run.

Be sure to drop in and say hello. A FEW FLING THINGS

You may have seen our social media shout out about this one (if not then we’d love you to follow us – links in our sign-off) but we’re sharing it here too. Your Highland Fling entry could also be NEW BIKE DAY.

The awesome team at Focus Bikes are giving one lucky Flinger the chance to get their hands on a Focus Spine Evo or Evo Donna MTB, valued at $3999. In it to win it!

If it’s not new bike day and your trusted steed has any last minute requirements before the race, the crew from Shimano will be on hand to help! Plus this year, to give them support, we’ll have The Fixed Wheel wrenching too – thanks guys!

Feeling fast? Make sure you book a spot in Saturday’s Bundanoon Dash. This quick tour around the town is the perfect prelude to Sunday’s racing. Get the blood pumping and maybe even pick up a cash prize. You can enter here.

Plus don’t forget for your mini shredders we’ve got the Kid’s Skills Course to help them hone their skills. This runs on Saturday 12th and is for kids between 5 – 12. Entry is $15 and it always sells out, so make sure you book now. Entry fees go to support the work of Save the Children.

And finally, just a reminder that our 2016 Highland Fling t-shirts and jerseys are a great momento of your achievements. You can order with your entry, or as a separate item if you’ve already entered.

We can’t wait to see you all in a few weeks at the 2016 Highland Fling!

Runners we are so excited to be welcoming you back soon. Just a couple of weeks ago we did a social recce run (thanks to those who joined us) and the course was looking spectacular!

The most important note for our runners is the slightly changed race start times (below):

Half Marathon 3:50pm

Quarter Marathon 3:55pm

The Teaser 4:00pm

This will also impact assembly and briefing times. Please check out the event schedule here.

Have you ordered your Pearl iZUMi Bundy Run tee yet? It’s a great way to remember the weekend and your achievement!

Where are you staying?  If you are headed to the Southern Highlands for the weekend and need accommodation, you can jump onto our website here as a starting point.

Plus we have plenty of camping at Ferndale Oval (which is also where the Highland Fling will start) about 2-minutes from the centre of town. Thanks for thinking about sustainability As most of you would know, we try to be as sustainable as possible during our events – and we encourage you to do the same. Here are our top two for you:

1. Bring your own water bottle. Bundanoon is a bottled water free town so you won’t be able to buy bottled water, but you can refill your bottle.

2. Bring a keep cup for your coffee too instead of using a takeaway one – we’re pretty passionate about this one, so when you give your own cup to our coffee van baristas you’ll receive a ticket to win a prize. Plus we’ll be handing out spot prizes for those of you we spot with your own cup!
