About the Mountains To Beach
The Mountains To Beach is a 'tour' style event. Entrants, solo or pairs, will ride some 380km on a journey from the mountains to the beach, from Thredbo in the Snowy Mountains to Narooma on the South Coast of NSW. The majority of the riding will be in race stages that will test the full range of mountain biking skills - uphill, downhill, cross country, marathon, riding under lights. Whilst timed race stages will range in length from 10km to nearly 100km, there will also be a number of non timed, non race cruising stages along the way.

Accommodation
There are a limited number of “All In” packages available for riders and supporters, which include 7 nights accommodation. If you wish to book your own accommodation along the way, see accommodation page for event special packages and contact details.
Ay Up Lighting Systems – Demo Lights
Ay Up Lighting Systems have a limited number of demo light sets available for competitors to try out at the event. They will have them available for the pre-dawn race stage at Buckenderra, for which lights are mandatory. They’ll also be running a workshop on the evening of Tuesday 5 March to demonstrate the lights and hand out the loan sets.
If you’d like to book a demo light set for the night stage, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by Sunday 24 February, stating you are a competitor in the Mountains To Beach.
Bike Wrenching Service
Mechanical assistance will be available at the beginning and end of most days to help get you going should you have a mechanical. There will be a limited range of spare parts for sale, however we strongly encourage riders to bring plenty of their own bike specific spares such as derailleur hangers as we can’t guarantee availability!
Snowy Mountain Cookies
The OFFICIAL RACE COOKIE. The web site says, "Snowy Mountains Cookies specialises in the art of making quality, gourmet, wholesome cookies abundantly filled with delicious and chunky ingredients so that every bite is a tasty treat. A government awarded manufacturer, Snowy Mountains Cookies are focused on quality ingredients." We say they are great to eat anytime, especially with a coffee before the dawn raid and have been known to be used as a meal supplement during a long night of course setting. They even have a gluten free cookie making them great for everyone.

Bike Preparation
Further to the above, we strongly recommend that your bike is serviced by a qualified mechanic prior to the event. This is imperative not only for your safety but also for your enjoyment of the event. And we’d definitely urge you to thoroughly test your brakes prior to beginning the first stage at Thredbo – although this is a cross-country descent (i.e. with plenty of uphill riding), it is certainly fast and steep in places – not somewhere you’d want to find out your mechanic hasn’t done their job well.
Physiotherapy & Bike Fit
Blair Martin, the Body Mechanic, and his team will be on hand at the event to provide a physiotherapy, massage, biomechanical assessment and bike fit service to competitors (and weary supporters!). Also, Blair is offering a discounted bike fit service, for $200 (normally $300), to entrants of the Mountains To Beach prior to the event - so if you're Sydney-based (or visiting), why not take advantage of this special offer!
