Hello [FIRSTNAME]

Well the Boot has been Biked – our 3 week MTB tour in Italy, Biking The Boot is complete. The group first rode 500km in 12 days from Rome through Umbria and Tuscany. The riding itself was incredible but it was also as much about the food, wine and the place. In the words of Phil Mathewson, one of the group and a man who knows a bit about riding and enjoying life – ‘I can’t believe what we’ve been experiencing and riding. I can’t describe the undescribeable, that singletrack descent was the best of my life’. A 6 day stage race, the Rally Di Romagna completed the tour last week in far from ideal conditions. A tough event was made even harder by copious amounts of mud arising out of some wet days early in the week. ‘Molte Fango’ is a term all are familiar with now! Biking The Boot will run again in May 2013. You can check out a few pics on our Facebook page (What? Facebook? Yes its true – see below).

Meanwhile back in NSW, the government has recently announced the corporatisation of Forests NSW. Essentially this means our state forests will be run by an organization, still fully publically owned, but with a more independent and commercial focus. Given the importance of these forests for recreational activities – for walking, riding, events, camping etc, it is certainly to be hoped that this move will result in increased recreational opportunities rather than less.

Wild Horizons is on Facebook!!

Yes, we can hardly believe it ourselves. After being cajoled and prodded about getting involved in social media we now have a Facebook presence. We did have to wait until Huw was out of the country though.
You can follow us now at our Facebook page and ‘liking’ us will enable you to keep track of what we are up to, upcoming events, promotional deals etc. We have also created some custom pages that show our events calendar, take you directly to our event entry pages, and let you sign up for newsletters (OK, maybe a little redundant for you, given you are reading this in our newsletter already).
For those of you without a Facebook account you can still keep up with our news via our regular newsletter and our website.

Good grief, who knows, we might even be on Twitter soon........

3 Ring Circus

The 3 Ring Circus is the next major event on our calendar. Entries are open now and you can secure your place in the Night Performance, Matinee Performance or both by clicking here

The Night Performance is a 20km race under lights on Saturday the 21st July. With a course consisting of single track, fire trail, wombats and wallabies, the Night Performance is hotly contested and enjoyed by all.

The Matinee Performance is a 50km race consisting of 3 rings, each coming back through the Big Top event centre. You can race all three rings yourself or form a team of 2 or 3 and draw straws to see who gets to ride the single track.

With Wingello State Forest as the venue for this event, riders get to enjoy all that the forest has to offer; sweet flowing single track, easy going fire trails, hills to test your mettle and a Big Top full of entertainment for adults and kids alike.

New this year, the Kids Circus on Saturday afternoon makes this event a great family event with something for everyone.

Are you a bit of a performer? Maybe only on the inside? We are looking for people to join the famous (infamous?) dark side for the 3 Ring Circus. Whether you can help out with marshalling, registration, being a driver or the many other jobs that are needed to put on the Performance, then let us know. Come and join us, have a great day yourself 'backstage'.
