What a week that was! We’re still undergoing treatment for trench foot after running the 2012 Mountains To Beach during the biggest rain event to hit southern NSW in decades. 450mm made sure things were eerr.......umm.......perhaps a little damp. But as the rivers rose, so did we to the challenge of safely riding and racing our way from Thredbo to Narooma (with no extra charge for a little bus trip along the way!). Huge props to all the riders, all the Dark Side and the land managers and communities that helped us with an ever changing itinerary. Check out the full Wash Up, Results and Photos here.
Meanwhile the Circus is coming around and the Box Office opens on 26 March!

Roll up, roll up. For the 4th year running Wingello State Forest will again be the stage for Australia’s mountain bike circus with a Night Performance on Saturday and the big Matinee Performance on Sunday. This is one Circus that you get to ride away to! Check details here.
As well as our troupe of jugglers, unicyclists and clowns we would like to welcome the following class acts – Shimano, Ground Effect, GU, Maxxis, Osprey Hydraulics, Ay Up and Lake Crackenback Resort. New surprise acts will be announced in the coming weeks.

Following Huw’s visit in 2010 to ride the first ever MTB event on Norfolk Island (with 11 other participants!) we’ve been working with the locals to present a very different cycling event on this rather special little speck in the Pacific. An Australian Territory, Norfolk Island packs a lot into its small island confines, an island where the mutineers from the Bounty ended up and where a hospitable welcome is guaranteed. Why not join us for the 2012 Norfolk Island MTB Cross Country Tour. 3 days, 6 stages. Flight scheduling means you get to stay for a week (flights operate from Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland on Air NZ) and given the event is on in the school holidays it is a great chance to bring the whole family. It will be a magical week on a rugged island a long way from anywhere. Farewell YOBS

At the end of February we said farewell to free coffee and our home for over 3 years, the iconic Ye Olde Bicycle Shoppe in Bundanoon. We’re really pleased to announce that Leah Hodge and Donna Jenkins, two of our wonderful staff there, bought the business – a ‘management buyout’!! We’d like to wish them both good luck in the venture and hope you’ll support them whenever you come to visit Bundanoon to ride or relax.
We’re still in Bundanoon, having moved the office a little bit further from the coffee machine than it was, but still within shouting distance to order a double shot latte or a chocolate malt milkshake!

Sweet Riding, Sweet Living - Biking the Boot

There are just 2 places left on our MTB journey in Italy. Details and entries are here for this trip running from 5-25 May. It all starts with a 10 day MTB tour crossing the country from Rome in the west to Riolo Terme in the East - across the calf of the big boot if you like! We ride through Umbria and Tuscany to finish in the Emilia Romagna region; riding high ridges and deep valleys ,staying in hotels and enjoying fine food and wine en route. At the end of the tour we will relax for a couple of days before taking part in the Rally Di Romagna, a tough but magnificent 5 day MTB stage race. The Briars Highland Fling
The Final Event in the 2012 REAL Insurance MTB Marathon series

Participating events in the 2012 Real Insurance XCM Marathon Series have been announced. The Briars Highland Fling, The Australian MTB Marathon Championship, on 11 November, will form the final event in the 6 event series.
The series also includes The Wombat 100 in Victoria on 22 April, Capital Punishment in the ACT (rescheduled due to bad weather to 28 April), The Convict 100 in NSW on 5 May, The Stevens Bikes Husky 100 in NSW on 30 June and The Wollombi Wild Ride in NSW on 1 September.
