Bundanoon Dash/Battle of The Businesses

The Bundanoon Dash

Saturday 10 November 2012

As a warm up to the main race on Sunday and as an opportunity to run a short race starting and finishing in the centre of Bundanoon, a short fundraising ‘sprint’ race called the Bundanoon Dash takes place at 5.30pm on Saturday 10 November, the day before the main Highland Fling race. Riders racing in the Fling on Sunday do not have to do the Dash but it is hoped many will. Likewise, anyone wishing to participate in the Dash only is welcome to sign up. The Dash also incorporates The Battle of The Businesses, a fancy dress fundraising race for local businesses.

Enter on your Highland Fling entry or you can enter the Dash on its own here if you are not riding in the Fling

The Route

The route of the Dash is for riders to be led under escort (non race conditions) from outside Bundanoon Public School down Constitution Hill to Riverview Road where they will start racing. They will race into the Morton National Park at Gambells Rest and do the loop of the dirt tracks that go via a number of spectacular lookouts back to Gambells Rest. Riders will then race up Gullies Road for a final, tough finish up Constitution Hill to Finish near the school. The total distance is some 6km.

The Battle of the Businesses @ The Bundanoon Dash

Saturday 10 November, 5-30pm

Butcher against Baker.....Postmaster against Potter..... Cafe against Chemist.....Health Centre against Hairdresser........Guesthouse against Garage.......hf-bb-1

Following the success of the inaugural Battle of The Businesses in 2010 & 2011 we’re off again in 2012!!

The Bundanoon Dash is a 6km fundraising mountain bike race, a warm up the night before The Highland Fling. It loops around the Morton NP trails before a ‘slight’ uphill finish up Constitution Hill.

So once again the call goes out to all businesses (highly visible or home based!) in the Bundanoon/Exeter/Penrose/Wingello area* to put up a rider to represent them in the Dash with proceeds of the battle going to charity. It’s a bit of fun for a good cause.

How it Works:

1. Find a rider. This can be someone who works for the business or another rider living in the district*. To make it easy we can also draw you a rider from local mountain bikers if you can’t find one! Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 4883 6509 if you need a rider.

2. Enter. The rider enters The Battle of The Businesses here. The cost is $10 for the Dash entry plus $15 for The Battle of The Businesses fee. All the money goes into the charity pool.

3. Dress Rider & Bike - On the day the rider must ride dressed in a way that identifies him/her with the business. There are prizes for the best dressed bikes/riders!!

Each ‘Battle of The Businesses’ rider will ride with a special number plate highlighting their sponsoring business

All entry fees go into a pool. So if there are 40 businesses involved then there’s 40 x $25 ie $1000 in the pool. The winners nominate their favourite charity/cause to receive the money as follows:

– First Place – 70% of entry fees

– Second Place – 20% of entry fees

– Third Place – 10% of entry fees

– Best Dressed – 1st, 2nd & 3rd - Special prizes for riders whose dress/bike best shows off the business he/she is representing!

Who Can Enter?

Businesses must have their primary place of trade or main office in the Sutton Forest/Exeter/Bundanoon/Penrose/Wingello area. Riders in must also live in this area. Any attempted rorting of the system will see businesses liable to a fine of not less than $50 to be added to the charity pool!.
