Route description

The three loops (or Rings) pass through the Big Top event centre located at the Wingello Forest Trailhead. The loops will be completed in the order below:

Granny Gear
Blue Ring
6km of fast firetrail will separate the speedsters from the rose sniffers and allows riders to find their legs. There won’t be a lot of granny gear on the Granny Gear Ring.

Big Dog
Red Ring
Big Dog is approx 25km long. It traverses several gullies and includes one or two climbs (including the infamous “The Wall”!) and 13km of sweet, flowing singletrack. All this in beautiful native forest. 3 Ring Circus performers will want to go hard here – it's hard not to ride with a big grin on the face. However enthusiasm will be tempered by the knowledge that still to come is……….

Spinner Ring
Yellow Ring
Back to the Big Top and a last chance to grab some food and drink and some encouragement from the crowd. The 19km Spinner Ring (Ed – Look, why should Middle Ring not have a decent descriptive name like its neighbours. Henceforth to be known as Spinner) will test legs and lungs as it takes performers through some deep gullies and steady climbs. The bonus is that you’ll head through some mixed forests and open farmland on firetrails and dirt roads, with the end of the performance ever closer. A fast finish back to the Big Top and no requirement for an encore. The 3 Ring Circus is over.

About Wingello State Forest

Only 2 hours from Sydney and 15 mins off the Hume Highway, Wingello State Forest abuts the vast Morton National Park and sits at the southern end of the beautiful Southern Highlands region. Tiny Wingello village is only minutes away and Bundanoon, with a full range of accommodation, shops, cafes etc is only 20mins away. Ye Olde Bicycle Shoppe, our café and bike business, is located in Bundanoon.

Bike Hire

If you're looking for a bike to ride at the event, whether it be a quality hardtail (BMC Team Elite 04) or a blingy demo bike such as an Ibis Mojo, we can help. We are offering a discounted hire rate of $75 for any of our top-end demo bikes. Pick up at Rego on Saturday or Sunday, return after the event on Sunday (security your responsibility!). See Ye Olde Bicycle Shoppe for more information.

3 Ring Circus T-Shirt

Introcucing our Australian made, guaranteed sweatshop free, 100% organic cotton t shirt! The 2010 3 Ring Circus t-shirt will be available to pre-order on your entry form to ensure you don’t miss out. T shirts are $35.

Catering

Breakfast and lunch (provided by the Wingello Rural Fire Service) will be available as well as the all important coffee van. Additionally there will be race foods and drink available for sale.

Verofit Hydration Station

The Verofit Hydration Station will be set up at the Big Top area for performers to fill up both before the event and also between Rings.

Raceworx Mechanical Support

Raceworks will be providing a bike repair service / basic spare parts available from 3.00pm until 7.00pm on Saturday 24 July and from 7.00am on Sunday 25 July, at the Big Top Event Centre.

Aquamann Water Station

If its good-old-fashioned Bundy On Tap you are after, The Aquamann water truck will be on site to quench your thirst.

Timing

The 3 Ring Circus is timed by Castech Sports Technology.

Cycle Photos

Cycle Photos will be on the course snapping away and will have a selection of photos of each rider available for sale after the event

Join the Dark Side

As with any circus, the Three Ring needs plenty of backstage assistance. If you are unable to compete but want to join the Dark Side, then we’d love to hear from you. Volunteers receive food and drink throughout the event. If you can help then contact us by phone or fill in the online volunteer form.

Highlands Trails

The Wingello trail network is getting increasingly popular. In order for the project to grow and to maintain the trails, help is always appreciated. The Highlands Trail Fairies, a group of local mtb enthusiasts, are coordinating working bees over the coming months. Tools are supplied and satisfaction too.
